The fake diplomas purchased included those from National Taiwan University, the National Police University, and Feng Chia University, among others. One person used a counterfeit Feng Chia University master&#039;s degree to apply for a job and even landed a position at Micron Technology Taiwan; another active-duty military member submitted the fake diploma to their military register. If a forged diploma is submitted to a company for job applications, it may constitute the crime of forging special documents, which carries a maximum penalty of up to one year imprisonment. If the company offers a higher position, salary, or other financial benefits as a result, it may further be considered fraud or deception on a case-by-case basis. A company that discovers an employee&#039;s falsified academic credentials may also terminate the employment contract according to law.
