Recently, upon checking the phone, they discovered its location was at a mobile phone store in Taiwan. It was later clarified that a Japanese driver had found the phone, noticed a lucky charm on it, and knew it belonged to a Taiwanese tourist. He asked other Taiwanese tourists to help bring it back to Taiwan and hand it over to the police. However, the original owner reported the loss in Okinawa and was unaware the phone had been returned to Taiwan. After six months of being posted online without anyone claiming it, the finder retrieved the phone and legally resold it to the mobile phone store.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Lawyer Li Yusheng from Fidelity Law Firm stated that, in principle, if a mobile phone is found in Okinawa, it should be handed over to the relevant authorities for claiming according to local laws. In this case, if the person who found the phone believed it belonged to a Taiwanese tourist in Okinawa and, based on the idea that it would be easier to find the owner, took the phone back to Taiwan and handed it over to the police as lost property, it shows that the person did not intend to misappropriate the property. Therefore, there should be no suspicion of misappropriation, and the relevant lost property procedures have been legally completed.
