With the combination of AI voice changing, dating apps, fake romances, and exorbitant spending, fraud is no longer as simple as "being deceived emotionally." According to news reports, fraud rings are suspected of using AI voice changers to impersonate women, then guiding victims to swipe their credit cards, buy gifts, or engage in high-end spending. If people lose money or valuables as a result, it may constitute criminal fraud and could also lead to civil claims.
The core of these cases lies not in whether the two parties had ever chatted or met, but in whether the other party used a false identity, fake relationships, AI voice changing, or a pre-designed consumption process to mislead the victim into swiping their credit card, transferring money, purchasing goods, or paying service fees. If there are multiple people involved, including those in the server room, those with scripted communication, public relations personnel, receiving accounts, or partner merchants, the legal implications could be more serious than those of typical relationship disputes.
If a person obtains money or property by using a false identity, false feelings, or false statements, it may constitute the crime of fraud under criminal law.
If technology is used to create false voices for fraudulent purposes, the application of aggravated fraud charges may be further discussed.
If someone knowingly assists in collecting payments, bringing customers to spend money, or transferring profits to another person who is involved in fraud, they may be considered an accomplice or an accessory to the crime.
Many victims initially hesitate, worrying that they are simply "giving gifts voluntarily" or that their "emotional investment has failed." However, legally, the focus is on whether the reason for the payment or gift was based on false information deliberately created by the other party. If the other party approaches the victim with a false identity from the beginning, uses AI voice changer to disguise gender or role, and systematically guides the victim to make purchases, this may not just be a civil emotional issue, but a criminal fraud case.
According to Article 339 of the Criminal Code, the key to fraud lies in whether the perpetrator used deception to induce another person to hand over property or obtain financial benefits. If three or more people commit the crime together, through the internet or electronic communication tools, or even use computer synthesis or other technological methods to create false voices, it may constitute aggravated fraud under Article 339-4 of the Criminal Code. The actual charge will still depend on the evidence, division of labor, and flow of funds gathered by the police and prosecutors.
Please retain chat logs from dating apps, LINE messages, voice messages, bank transfer details, credit card records, gift purchase details, product links, invoices, store information, and the other party's account. Do not just screenshot parts of the content; it is best to retain the complete timeline.
Whether losses can be recovered in fraud cases often depends on whether the flow of funds can be traced. If it was a credit card purchase, you should keep the credit card statement and the store name; if it was a transfer, you should keep the account number, account name, and transaction time.
Criminal proceedings can pursue charges of fraud; civil proceedings may involve claims for restitution based on tort or unjust enrichment. If the case involves multiple people working together, the parties seeking compensation may not only be the person you chatted with, but also include those who actually received the money, shared the profits, or assisted in the fraud.
Fraudulent groups often use excuses like "Give me another chance," "Don't call the police yet," or "I was forced into this" to buy time. If you have already suffered significant losses, it is advisable to have a lawyer assist you in gathering evidence and determining liability before deciding whether to negotiate a settlement.
If the other party uses a false identity, AI voice changer, or fake conversation techniques to mislead you into making payments, swiping credit cards, or sending gifts, it may constitute fraud. Whether this constitutes fraud depends on the content of the conversation, the reason for the payment, the division of labor among the parties, and evidence of the transaction.
An assessment can be conducted first. If the so-called "voluntary" agreement is based on the other party's deliberate deception, such as a false identity, false feelings, or fabricated needs, it may still constitute fraud or a basis for civil claims.
If a business or individual knowingly assists in collecting payments, sharing profits, or creating a false impression of consumption during a fraudulent process, they may face criminal charges as an accomplice, an accessory to a crime, or civil liability. The key factors are whether they were aware of the scam and whether they actually participated.
The first step is to preserve evidence and transaction records; do not delete conversations or block accounts. Next, you can report the incident to the police, confirm the transaction status with the bank, and seek legal assistance in preparing the complaint and the direction of your claim.
