Former People's Party Chairman Ko Wen-je has been detained and denied access to visitors because of his involvement in a corruption case. The funeral for his deceased father, Ko Cheng-fa, will be held on the 10th of next month (3/10). Therefore, Ko Wen-je, through his lawyer, applied to lift the ban on visitors yesterday (2/26), hoping to discuss funeral arrangements with his family. The Taipei District Court will hold a hearing today (2/27) at 2:30 p.m. and notified the family to appear in court to make a statement. In the end, the court approved the temporary lifting of the ban on visitors until March 10.

Attorney Li Yusheng of Fidelity Law Offices said that since Ko Wen-je's father has passed away, Ko Wen-je can legally apply to the detention center to attend the funeral. Therefore, Ko Wen-je's application to lift the ban on visiting his father has nothing to do with attending the funeral. It is very rare to apply for lifting the ban on visiting his father on the grounds of attending the funeral. Ko Wen-je's legal team may want to use this incident to gain an opportunity for Ko Wen-je to meet and communicate with other people. On the one hand, it can help Ko Wen-je relieve his emotions, and on the other hand, there may be a chance to discuss the case again.
