Lian Yi Abalone founder Zhong Wenzhi jumped bail and absconded after being sentenced to 30 years in prison in May for hyping TDR. The prosecution arrested his sister, niece, and two close friends who were suspected of assisting him in absconding. After questioning, they were granted bail ranging from NT$30,000 to NT$500,000. The prosecutors and police learned that on the day of the sentencing, Zhong Wenzhi took a taxi from 101 to Shiding, and was then picked up by a friend named Zheng and taken to the northeast corner. It is suspected that he took a boat to sneak into the Philippines and then ended up in Xiamen.

Li Yusheng, an attorney at Fidelity Law Firm, said that if one knowingly provides a hiding place or funds to another person who has committed a crime or is wanted, or helps the criminal evade criminal prosecution, it constitutes a crime of harboring a person and is punishable by imprisonment of not more than two years, criminal detention, or a fine of not more than 15,000 yuan.
