Entertainer Mickey Huang was sentenced to eight months in prison in the first instance for possessing 2,259 videos of minors being sexually assaulted. The High Court will announce the verdict on the morning of the 25th. Lawyer Li Yusheng of Fidelity Law Firm stated that Huang Zih-chiao possessed sexually explicit images of children or teenagers without a legitimate reason and was sentenced to eight months in prison in the first instance, requiring him to serve his sentence. However, if he can reach a settlement with all the victims, he may have a chance to obtain a lighter sentence, or even commutate it to a fine or probation. Therefore, Huang Zih-chiao's lawyers rushed to obtain settlements from all the victims the day before the sentencing. His lawyers also emphasized that Huang Zih-chiao obtained these videos before the law prohibited it, in order to downplay Huang Zih-chiao's subjective intent to break the law. Regarding the possession of sexually explicit images of children or teenagers, there was no penalty before February 2023. After February 2023, the penalty was changed to imprisonment for up to one year, and in 2024, the penalty was increased to imprisonment for up to three years. If these videos were obtained by paying a price, the penalty could even be imprisonment for one to seven years.
