The transnational fraud organization Prince Group had an office located inside Taipei 101, where it remained hidden for seven years! Taipei 101 Chairperson Chia Yung-chieh mentioned that she was shocked when she first learned of this and immediately reviewed whether there were any oversights in the internal controls. She also said helplessly that she has no public authority to investigate the tenant's background like the police and prosecutors, and can only rely on publicly available business information for verification. She appealed to the public sector to help verify the tenant's background in advance, but actually contacting the Economic Development Bureau and the police is still quite difficult to implement.

Lawyer Li Yusheng of Fidelity Law Firm stated that Taipei 101 merely rents out office space. The lessor has no right to verify the tenant's information beforehand, nor can they monitor the tenant's activities within the rented space during the rental period. Furthermore, they are not involved in the activities of criminal groups. Therefore, even if criminal groups engage in illegal activities within Taipei 101, it would be difficult to control them, and thus they should not bear legal responsibility.
