A nursing home in Yilan recently opened and wanted to promote it on Facebook, so it found a nursing company and set up a blue check mark fan page. Unexpectedly, two weeks later, the company suddenly sent a message demanding 2 million yuan in extortion, threatening to not return the fan page to the company if the money was not paid. The company also wanted to hire cyber troops to attack and discredit all its customers, which scared the business owner and he quickly called the police.

Li Yusheng, a lawyer at Fidelity Law Firm, said that the perpetrator in this case established a limited company but claimed to be a joint-stock company. In addition, the address was established by multiple companies. It is suspected that they just registered at a borrowed address and placed a fake phone number on the website. They are suspected of using fraud and using this method to gain people's trust. Later, they asked others for high sums of money for other reasons. They may be involved in the aggravated fraud crime under the Criminal Law, which is punishable by imprisonment of not less than one year and not more than seven years, and a fine of not more than one million yuan.
