Former People's Party Chairman Ko Wen-je petitioned the court to lift the ban on visitors. Today (3rd) is the second day that the Taipei Prison has allowed Ko Wen-je to visit. Early in the morning, his wife Chen Pei-chi went to meet him alone. Because Ko Wen-je sprained his waist while in the police station, Chen Pei-chi specially sent him a pain-relieving patch. In addition, the Taipei Police Department stated that it has not yet received Ko Wen-je's application to attend the funeral. If he wants to see his father off for the last time, he must submit the application by the 8th at the latest.
Attorney Li Yusheng of Fidelity Law Offices said that Ko Wen-je's detention is expected to expire in April, and Ko Wen-je's lawyers will certainly fight for bail or at least lift the ban on visitors. The reason may be that the court has already conducted the trial, and the facts and evidence are relatively clear. There will be no possibility of collusion or destruction of evidence, so there is no need for detention without visitation. However, since only part of the trial should be held in April, the probability of Ko Wen-je being able to successfully post bail should not be high.
