Peng Zhensheng's Unexplained Assets Await Investigation; Prosecutor Requests Detention; Court Hearing Today | Next TV News, Era News Reporter Cai Yijie
The Beijing Prosecutor's Office is investigating the Jinghua City scandal. Former Taipei City Vice Mayor Peng Zhensheng was involved in crimes such as profiteering and unidentified sources of property in accordance with the Corruption Crimes Regulations. There was a risk of annihilation of evidence and collusion, so the prosecutor requested a postponement of detention. The North Court has opened court proceedings this morning and is expected to hold an adjournment hearing in the afternoon.
The detention period for the defendant in the Jinghua City Fraud Case is approaching. On the 22nd, the prosecutor has applied to the North Hospital to extend the detention of Ying Xiaowei and Shen Qingjing, and also requested to suspend the detention of Wu Shunmin on bail. The North Court held an extension hearing for Shen Qingjing and Ying Xiaowei on the 23rd and 24th, and it is expected to decide whether to continue their detention before the expiration of their detention. As for Wu Shunmin, it was ruled on the 25th that he would be released on bail of 5 million yuan and restricted from residence.
A criminal lawyer from Fidelity Law Firm stated that due to the wide scope of this case, the likelihood of Ying Hsiao-wei and Shen Ching-ching being detained for an extended period is very high before the facts of the crime are fully clarified. Furthermore, if Ying Hsiao-wei and Shen Ching-ching are detained for an extended period, it indicates that some criminal facts and financial transactions still need to be clarified, so the chances of Ko Wen-je and Peng Chen-sheng also being detained for an extended period are also very high.
If you have already received a notice from the District Attorney's Office, the police station, or the court, it is recommended that you first organize the summons, case details, conversation records, and related documents, and have your lawyer assess the direction of the investigation, possible charges, and response strategies to avoid making unfavorable statements without knowing the legal consequences.
Whether or not detention is necessary is usually related to the suspicion of a criminal suspect, the possibility of escape, the risk of collusion or destruction of evidence, and the seriousness of the case. In major criminal cases, financial crimes, corruption cases, or cases involving multiple accomplices, it is even more necessary to prepare specific materials as early as possible to explain that there is no need for detention.
Our firm can assist in criminal investigations, detention hearings, bail applications, criminal defense, fraud, breach of trust, money laundering, corruption, securities and banking law, and other major criminal cases, and plan the defense strategy based on the case information.
