Disputes over "inheritance issues" broke out over veterans' estates. Relatives and retirees will go to court in Taipei City/Reported by China Television reporter Zheng Huiliang and Wang Chengyi
An inheritance dispute broke out between the Retired Auxiliary Association and the families of veterans! A Ms. Zhang from Taipei City sent her 94-year-old veteran uncle to live in the Taipei Veterans Home. Earlier this month, her uncle passed away due to illness, but the issue of inheritance settlement arose with the Veterans Home. Ms. Zhang said that the other party asked her to hand over her uncle's bankbook and seal, otherwise the body would not be handed over to Ms. Zhang and she would not be allowed to handle funeral arrangements. However, in fact, her uncle had made a legally binding will before his death, setting Ms. Zhang as Heir to property. In response to this, the Home of Veterans responded that as far as civil law is concerned, Ms. Zhang is not an heir, and she only took the passbook for safekeeping, which is absolutely not illegal. .
The complainant, Ms. Zhang, said: "I took care of him (uncle) for so many days in the hospital, and then I peeed and changed diapers. No one from them (Rong family) ever came to see him. At this time, I was called a relative. ." She has been living with her only relative in Taiwan for 28 years. Ms. Zhang's uncle came to Taiwan with Chiang Kai-shek at the age of 18 to fight. Eight months ago, she sent her 94-year-old veteran uncle to live in the "Taipei Veterans Home". I never thought that after my uncle passed away, he would be faced with all kinds of difficulties by the Honorable People's Family.
The complainant, Ms. Zhang, said: "Stop it immediately. We can't do (the funeral) tomorrow. I signed a letter of incision to them (Taipei Rong Family) on the spot and agreed to show it to them (Taipei Rong Family). It's a will notary's." Originally, I handed over 73,000 yuan in cash to them (Taipei Rong family), so that they (Taipei Rong family) agreed, then you can continue to handle the (funeral), but I feel that from beginning to end, this matter It's ridiculous." I took out the will written by my uncle before his death, and it was clearly written on it, whether it was the land on Wuxing Street, Xinyi District, Taipei City, or the house on Songren Road, a total of two real estates, as well as bank deposits, etc. As for the chattels, the heirs of the will all belong to Ms. Zhang, who is the niece, and the documents are notarized by a notary and are legally binding.
Lawyer Li Yusheng said: "Inheritance can be distributed by bequest or specified by a will. If there is a notarized will, the validity of the will should be respected. If someone thinks that the will is not genuine, or If the special share is infringed, relevant remedies can be brought according to law, otherwise the will should still be deemed to be valid."
