The trial of the boy Qianqian who was abused to death by his nanny continued this morning (4/23) by the national judge. The judge summoned MIRA, a foreign caregiver who worked as a maid at the nanny's home at the time, to testify. She revealed in court that Qianqian had a very bad life before his death. Not only was he often punished to stand in the corner in just diapers like a soldier at ease, Liu Caixuan also used a juicer to blend rice crust into a paste, then put the paste in a bowl and took it to the toilet for Qianqian to eat. The national judges present shook their heads after hearing this.
The nanny surnamed Liu was entrusted by the Child Welfare Alliance to take care of a 1-year-old boy in August last year. She and her sister allegedly committed abuse, obstruction of freedom, injury, etc. to the boy within 4 months. Unfortunately, the boy died on December 24 last year. He was taken to the hospital in the early morning and died.
Liu Yiling, an attorney at Fidelity Law Offices, said that in general criminal proceedings, screens are usually used to protect victims of sexual crimes or to protect the safety of secret witnesses, and they are usually used in the courtroom. In the Qian Qian case, a screen was used at the point where the suspect was boarded into the prison van to prevent the suspect from being photographed by the media. This situation is very rare, and may also be because it is not in line with general practice, so screens are no longer used today.
