On the 29th of last month, the Washington Post published an in-depth, months-long investigative report. The report pointed out that the Taiwan Unification Promotion Party, led by White Wolf Zhang Anle, was accused of close ties with organized crime groups such as the Bamboo Union, recruiting spies, spreading united front rhetoric, and even stockpiling arms within Taiwan, posing a threat to national security. However, Taiwan's penalties for espionage were too lenient. Even the Ministry of the Interior's order to disband the group last year was stalled by the Constitutional Court's inability to interpret the Constitution, and its implementation has yet to be carried out.

Li Xin, an attorney at Fidelity Law Firm, stated that if Zhang Anle is suspected of leaking state secrets to mainland China, he could face up to 10 years in prison under the National Security Law and the National Security Protection Act. If he plans to establish another political party to engage in similar activities, although the establishment of political parties requires a filing, the Ministry of the Interior can refuse to approve the filing, preventing him from establishing another party and continuing his communist espionage activities.
