However, according to Taiwan's criminal law, Taiwanese judiciary has jurisdiction over cases where a Taiwanese citizen is murdered abroad and the suspect's crime carries a sentence of three years or more imprisonment. However, because Taiwan and Malaysia do not have an extradition treaty, Taiwan may not be able to extradite Namewee to Taiwan. But if Namewee completes his sentence in Malaysia and comes to Taiwan, the Taiwanese judiciary will still have the right to try him.
