With strawberry season here, popular cakes are seeing long queues, but even top-rated shops are experiencing order cancellations! One business owner reported that a customer ordered as many as 92 strawberry cakes. Considering she was a repeat customer, they accommodating her with cash on delivery. However, things took a turn for the worse, and the entire order was ultimately cancelled. The post about the incident sparked discussion online. The business owner remained low-key, stating they simply wanted to warn other shoppers and prevent a recurrence.

Lawyer Li Yusheng of Fidelity Law Firm stated that if a consumer orders a large quantity of cakes online but fails to pick them up, causing losses to the seller, the seller can seek civil damages from the consumer. If there is evidence showing that the consumer maliciously abandoned the order, causing property damage to the seller, it may also constitute a criminal offense of property damage, punishable by up to three years imprisonment, detention, or a fine of up to NT$15,000. For goods with short shelf lives or large orders, it is recommended that sellers collect deposits or advance payments to avoid losses caused by abandoned orders.
