In 2022, political commentator Chu Hsueh-heng was convicted of indecent assault and sentenced to 11 months in prison for forcibly kissing Taipei City Councilor Chung Pei-chun during a dinner party. He was admitted to prison early on January 24 this year. His original scheduled release date was December 23. However, it is rumored that Chu Hsueh-heng has behaved well in prison and has received a reduced sentence. He is expected to be released on the morning of December 1.

Li Yusheng, a lawyer at Fidelity Law Firm, stated that one of the conditions for a lenient sentence in the crime of forced indecency is the need to plead guilty and obtain the victim's forgiveness. Additionally, progressive treatment is a prison system that encourages good behavior among inmates, dividing them into four levels. The better the behavior, the higher the level, and the more lenient the living conditions. When an inmate reaches level three or above and behaves well, a sentence reduction can be applied, meaning a reduction in the actual time served. The higher the level, the more days are reduced, with the aim of encouraging inmates to actively improve and strive for early release.
