Entertainer Mickey Huang was sentenced to eight months in prison in the first instance for possessing 2,259 videos of minors being sexually assaulted. The High Court will announce the verdict on the morning of the 25th. His appointed lawyer released a new statement a day in advance (24th), stating that a settlement has been reached with all the victims. He also emphasized that the victims understand Huang and that the time when they downloaded the videos was before the law prohibited it. Lawyer Li Yusheng of Fidelity Law Firm stated that Huang Zih-chiao was sentenced to eight months in prison without probation in the first instance under the Child and Youth Sexual Exploitation Prevention Act. In the second instance, the sentence was changed to one year and six months imprisonment for violating the Personal Data Protection Act, but with a four-year suspended sentence, effectively achieving a lighter punishment. Huang Zih-chiao's lawyer issued a public statement yesterday stating that they had reached settlements with all the victims of illegal possession of child sexual images, aiming to reduce the sentence and even commutate it to a fine or probation. Judging from today's verdict, it's clear the judge considered that Huang Zih-chiao had obtained the victims' forgiveness, thus achieving the goal of Huang Zih-chiao not wanting to serve time in prison.
